See Through Species
This species is a new found, see through, type of Tanaid, which is a small crustacean. They found this species living in swarms along the coast of Australia. Finding this species will also help in uncovering more new species, and studying future ocean changes.

Questions:
1. Do you think it is a surprise they are still discovering new species in the ocean?

2. How many more undiscovered species do you think there are in the ocean?

3. Based on your answer to question two, do you think that is a good or bad thing?

  1. I think that its cool that scientist can still discover new species, it makes everything more interesting and fun. I wonder if you could find this speices anywhere else in the world besides the coast of Australia. Also, I would want to know what this new speices is related to,if anything, and how many there are in the world.

1.) I don't really think that it is a surprise that scientist are still finding new species becuase the world is so big, espeacially the ocean.

2.) I think that there are probably hundreds of undiscovered species in the ocean bacause humans can't always go all places of the ocean to look for them. Some undiscovered species may look close to other species so scienctist might not always pick up on them.

sorry if this has so many spelling/grammar mistakes, didn't have spell check.

  2. I didn't know that it was possible for a living thing to be see-through. Perhaps this is a structural adaptation that this organism acquired to protect itself from its predators. I think that this animal has a high population because of its ability to hide itself from predators. As Katie, I also wonder if they live anywhere other than the coast of Africa.

    1) No, I don't think this is surprising because since our oceans are so vast, it is hard to know every single species that lives in every single area of our waters. I predict that more and more species will continue to be discovered in the future.

  3. I don’t think it is a surprise that people are STILL discovering new creatures all over the world. There are probably hundreds or even thousands of unknown species in the ocean that we have no knowledge of. I don’t think that is a good thing because there lots of organisms out there that could be either potentially helpful, or already harming us, and we are not aware of it yet. Maybe an undiscovered little sea urchin on the bottom of the ocean could supply us with a cure to cancer; we don’t know yet.
